The Future of “The Bipolar Writer”

I have had a lot of time to think about the future of my blog over the weekend. Where do I go from here?

I have met the most amazing people over the last two and half months within the mental health community. People, who are willing to share their story, their experience with me because, on so many levels, they deal with the same issues.

So what does this mean?

I think I am starting to get a clearer picture. Writing my own memoir has helped me grow as a writer. I am on a great stretch run of a month that is usually all doom and gloom. Writing has always been a lifeline, who I am as a person. What if my blog could become a place where I share other human beings stories that align so well with my own.

To be honest I chose journalism as my minor because I always wanted to be a journalist. When my focus turned to fiction writing I figured this is where I belong (and I still do.) I am starting to realize I just love to write, but real life writing is about real connections with real people.

I am not sure if I am ready to tackle other people’s stories just yet, but if it’s in the cards and it comes to that point, then I think it will be something to consider. Maybe I am just thinking out loud, but people sharing their stories with me is amazing. To hear that they will share their experience after reading about my own.

I want nothing more than to hear from you! Is this some grandiose idea or something that has teeth?

  1. You are an inspiration not only to me but others as well. You write superbly with such heart.
I started my blog back in Sept 2016, and I never looked back. I too wanted to reach people, and help them. However, that being said… I have also used this as a template for my own memoir that I eventually hope to publish sometime in the future.
Do what is best for you. No matter what it is, you will be a success!

  2. I’m excited to see where you take this blog. As a fellow mental-health writer, I love reading all of your posts. It motivates me to be more open about my own struggle, which is probably the hardest thing for anyone who struggles with mental-illness to do. Blessings on your future writing!

    • I didn’t sometimes I don’t receive my messages when people contact me through my page. I will have to look into that. I figured it was always working but you are the third person to ask if I received their message. It would be an honor to be interviewed for your blog Katie. My contact email is jamesedgarskye24@gmail.com. You can contact me on my Facebook page. The link is on my website. Please let me know!

  4. It has teeth , not every story has a storyteller able to tell it clearly. We all have the same feelings and the same struggles, but some are better able to articulate it. Telling your story, as well as the stories of others, promotes understanding and acceptance, two things that make the world a better place (not to sound dramatic or hippy-ish)

  5. I’m happy you’ve been keeping up with writing this month! Especially with this being a difficult month for you. Writing is a way to just let everything out – your feelings, thoughts, worries. Writing is a way to find out things about yourself even you didn’t know. I’m excited to see what you wind up doing, and always keep writing 💜 I can tell you have a passion for this in how you write!

  6. I recently found your blog. I am leery about “meeting” new people. I read a lot more than I comment or even like. However, this morning I feel I need to tell you – Keep writing. Even those wallflowers (like me) might need to read something you write.

  7. Go for it! I’ve started a new series on my blog, “What is ‘Womanhood’?” I have many different guest writers lined up to tell their story of the hardest times in their lives, how certain women have shaped the way they view women, and what being a woman looks like in relation to their spirituality. This is extremely excitinf because it details the struggles these women live with, from mental disorders and infertility to relationship issues and finding their way. This really resonates with me because of my personal battles with mental illnesses, the hysterectomy, and being plunged into Menopause at 29.

What I’m saying is if you can find volunteers (Me!) to enrich your blog, more power to you. 😊

  8. I have always wanted to share my story that started 30 years ago. My blog is an attempt to do that, but sometimes in my depression, even writing is painfully difficult. I have such a good (not in a good happy way) story to tell, I just lack whatever it takes to get it all out. I’ve always felt as if individual parts of my life, or situations or relationships that I have been in could each be it’s own short story, or novel for some of it. I have also always wanted to find someone to write my story. I would absolutely LOVE to collaborate with you and hope that you will remember me if you ever decide to take this task on.
